Millennials are anxious avocado-eaters who'll never own property, while Gen Zers are depressed snowflakes who take liberties at work. So in the spirit of finding some common ground amid all the mud-slinging, BI asked six therapists what their clients from different generations commonly talk about in therapy. Gen Alpha are also forming friendships outside their family and independent of their parents or carers, and that's reflected in what kids worry about. Diana Garcia, a therapist in Florida, works mainly with older Gen Zers between 18 and 26. MillennialsLike Gen Zers, millennials, who are in their late 20s to early 40s, also feel insecure because they compare the "perfect lives" they see on social media with their own, Owen said.

A Harvard Business School professor was asked to break down Jeff Bezos' leadership style on a recent podcast. But good leadership also requires empathy, an area where Bezos is seemingly lacking, Gupta said. His inventiveness, fearlessness, and focus have all played a key role in Amazon's growth, said Sunil Gupta, a Harvard Business School professor who has studied Bezos for years. Gupta broke down how Bezos's character has helped Amazon grow on a recent episode of Harvard Business Review's "On Strategy" podcast. Some career experts liken LinkedIn to a living, breathing CV, while others say they spend longer on a candidate's LinkedIn profile than on their résumé. Shah shared three other ways candidates can optimize LinkedIn to stand out to hiring managers. Treat your LinkedIn profile like a résuméPeople are used to enhancing their résumés to stand out in employers' keyword-searching software. Add those phrases to your LinkedIn profile too, because recruiters look for candidates by typing in industry-related keywords, Shah said. "We realized we couldn't afford the mortgage and the car payments and everything," Stonestreet told me. Americans work more, vacation less, spend more on healthcare, and die sooner than people in other high-income economies. These factors likely explain why some Americans are moving to countries that aren't generally considered low-cost-of-living locales. She said that living abroad afforded her a degree of flexibility and spontaneity that would be out of reach back home. From their temporary perch in Tirana, Albania, the couple told me via WhatsApp that their only regret about moving abroad was not doing it sooner.

Right now, I feel closer to Donald J. Trump than I ever have before. That's because Trump looks like he's having trouble staying awake at his first-ever criminal trial. I don't know how long I was out for — probably just a few seconds — but definitely long enough for them to notice, and for me to notice that they noticed. I don't know when Donald Trump goes to sleep, but I do know that during his Twitter era, he tended to do a lot of late-night scrolling — also relatable — and posting. So don't worry about the nap-shaming, Mr. Trump — many of us do the same thing.

Many who responded said they were nearing retirement age but couldn’t imagine being able to stop working, saying they would take their debt to their grave. These are the four types of foods that are the key to more energy, according to experts. But there are also some foods that nutritionists say can boost your energy if you do need a pick-me-up. Complex carbohydratesSimple carbohydrates, including white bread, quickly break down into sugar and instantly lead to spikes in your blood sugar, Dr. Nancy Rahnama, an internist and clinical nutritionist, told CNBC Make It in January of 2023. Having complex carbs for breakfast can help you feel energized throughout the day, registered dietitian Maya Feller told CNBC Make It last year. It turns out that eating foods high in fiber at the very top of your day can be a great hack for more energy, according to Rahnama.

Meanwhile, the US retirement system has become anxiety-inducing for many, as older adults struggle to make ends meet. This differs from the American system, where retirees' money is often held between a 401(k), other accounts, and outside investments. Still, Reilly cautioned that applying Australia's retirement system to the US could negatively affect employee wages.

President Trump left office wildly unpopular. A plurality of voters, 42 percent, now say the Trump years were “mostly good” for the country. Biden says he finds the nostalgia “amazing,” and at a time when Trump is a defendant in four criminal cases, it may seem surprising. Today, I’ll explain why voter nostalgia seems to be helping Trump, and how that might change. Washington CNN —Americans haven’t been stashing money into their savings accounts like they used to, according to government statistics. Put together, this may have resulted in “a structurally lower saving rate,” according to the report. What does the lower saving rate of nowadays say about the US consumer? Households are continuing to spend at these elevated rates and one reason is because of the lower saving rate. You’re just not seeing a reversal back to pre-Covid levels, which isn’t shocking when you look back historically to what has happened to the saving rate.

New York CNN —Burnout is such a problem for workers that some bosses are considering shrinking the length of the workweek. “It’s way too early to declare the four-day work week part of the future. Some companies that have experimented with shorter workweeks are sticking with it. “My guess is a widespread four-day workweek could be years away – if ever,” he said. “It’s possible that generative AI might make the four-day workweek more realistic,” Knopp said.

But while nearly two-thirds of Gen Z identify as happy, that percentage drops significantly as people in the age group right as they reach adulthood (ages 18 to 26). How Voters Describe the 2024 Election in One Word
  + stars: | 2024-04-11 | by ( Camille Baker | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: 1 min
It’s no secret that many voters are not looking forward to the election in November. A New York Times/Siena College poll from February found that 19 percent of voters held an unfavorable view of both President Biden and former President Donald J. Trump. At the same time, the prospect of a new president is exciting for many, and nearly half of Republican primary voters are enthusiastic with Mr. Trump as their nominee, the Times/Siena poll found. About a quarter of Democratic primary voters said the same about Mr. Biden. To dig a little deeper, we asked respondents in that Times/Siena poll to summarize their feelings about the upcoming rematch in just one word.

Just six in 10 Gen Zers responded that they always or often feel their life has direction, with feelings of significance and purpose lower among older Gen Zers. CNN —Gen Z is having a harder time than previous generations did at their age, according to new research. It is one of a series of four surveys about Gen Z, said survey author Zach Hrynowski, a senior researcher at Gallup. Gen Z people who are 18- to 26-years-old are less likely to rate their lives positively than older generations when they were in that age range, Hrynowski said, noting this analysis didn’t do a direct comparison but used previous surveys to assess happiness levels of Gen Z and its predecessors. Two factors were heavily correlated with Gen Z happiness: how much time they got for weekend sleep and relaxation, and even more important was their sense of purpose, he said. Gen Z puts a lot of effort into skin care and mental health, but bad sleep means looking tired and feeling badly, Salas said.
